How a match plays

Five moves from the lobby to victory.

  1. Pick your side

Choose your team and your board.

Play Red, Blue or Green on the classic 7×6 board or on Crossfire, 7×7 with obstacles in the way. In Advanced mode the winner's weapon stays hidden, so you have to remember what you saw.

Team selection in RPS Ninja: the red ninja on a pedestal, the Classic 7×6 or Crossfire 7×7 board, and Normal or Advanced mode
  2. Setup

The first bluff happens before anyone moves.

Place your King anywhere in your home zone and hide your Shadow Ninja beside it. Your opponent sees neither. Everything else is shuffled face-down.

Setup in RPS Ninja: the grey ninjas are still waiting for their weapons while you place your king
  3. Combat

Every clash is Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Step onto an enemy ninja and the weapons come out. Draw the same weapon and it goes to a tiebreak - both players choose again, in secret, with the whole board watching.

Combat in RPS Ninja: a red and a blue ninja collide in a cloud of dust on the board
  4. Strategy

Winning a fight also reveals your weapon.

A ninja that wins reveals what it was holding. Push too hard and you hand your opponent the map to your own King. Knowing when to retreat is half the game.

Combat result in RPS Ninja: the red ninja wins with rock against the blue ninja's scissors
  5. Victory

Find their King before they find yours.

Reach the enemy King and the match ends instantly - it does not matter how many ninjas you lost getting there. Take the XP, climb the ranks, run it back.

What a match is made of

Simple rules. Real tactics.

  • Live multiplayer

Real opponents, matched in seconds. Play a stranger or send a code to a friend.

  • A hidden King

Your King stands somewhere in your home zone. If an enemy ninja reaches its tile, the match is over.

  • A hidden Shadow Ninja

One tile your opponent cannot see. Step on it and the Shadow Ninja strikes - the ninja is gone, the Shadow Ninja stays.

  • Rules you already know

Every clash is Rock, Paper, Scissors. Rock beats Scissors, Scissors cut Paper, Paper beats Rock.

  • Tiebreaks

Same weapon on both sides? Nobody wins. Both players secretly choose again, right there on the board.

  • Stats and ranks

Every duel, win streak and rank is recorded. See exactly who you beat and how far you have climbed.

Your ninja

22 avatars. One of them is you.

Pick your profile picture in the settings, from the sumo wrestler to the kunoichi. Every new player starts with a random ninja.
